Jack the Ripper Suspect – Jill the Ripper

William Stewart and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle advanced theories involving a female murderer dubbed “Jill the Ripper”.

Supporters of this theory believe that the murderer worked, or posed, as a midwife, who could be seen with blood on her clothes without attracting suspicion and would be more easily trusted by the victims than a man.

One woman suggested as fitting this profile was the convicted murderer Mary Pearcey, who killed her lover’s wife and child in October 1890, though there is no indication she was ever a midwife.

E. J. Wagner, in The Science of Sherlock Holmes, suggests another possible suspect, Constance Kent, who had served 20 years for the murder of her younger brother when she was sixteen.

Sir John Williams’ wife, Lizzie, was also named as a possible suspect by author John Morris, who claims that she was unable to have children and, in an unhinged state, took revenge on those who could by killing them.

Sir John Williams himself was named as a suspect by another author in 2005 see Sir John Williams

Conclusion: It is highly unlikely that Jack the Ripper was a woman.
